Strengthening scientific and academic communication in Africa: AMD's lasting commitment.
Sharing knowledge, promoting African research and bringing science closer to development stakeholders.
The World Association for Development (AMD) considers scientific communication an essential driver of progress in higher education, research and innovation. Convinced that knowledge can have its full impact when it is made visible, understandable and accessible, AMD has for several years supported academic institutions, research centers and scientific organizations in improving their dissemination and knowledge-sharing practices.
Through its programmes, AMD supports the creation and strengthening of digital platforms, specialized publications, newsletters, scientific conferences, academic networks and science outreach content. These tools help increase awareness of research activities, promote innovation and facilitate the flow of information among higher education institutions, researchers and their partners.
The Association also supports initiatives that bring scientific communities closer to public decision-makers, the media, economic stakeholders and development organizations. This approach promotes a better understanding of research findings and facilitates their integration into public policies, institutional strategies and responses to economic, social, health, educational and environmental challenges.
The actions implemented are based on principles of reliability, scientific integrity, clarity and accessibility. AMD encourages the verification of disseminated information, proper acknowledgment of sources, respect for researchers' work and adaptation of content to different audiences, in order to ensure communication that is rigorous and useful for decision-making.
The initiatives supported have contributed to improving the visibility of certain scientific research, facilitating the circulation of information among academic communities and bringing researchers closer to institutional stakeholders. They have also promoted greater recognition of innovation, more accessible dissemination of knowledge and increased use of research findings in professional discussions and decision-making processes.
By strengthening the communication capacities of universities, higher education institutions and research centers, AMD contributes to consolidating the role of science in public debate and encouraging collaborations based on more widely shared knowledge. This approach also supports the international profile of African institutions and recognition of their contributions to major development challenges.
Through this commitment, the World Association for Development reaffirms its determination to make scientific communication a strategic tool for cooperation, innovation and transformation. By making knowledge more visible, more accessible and better connected to the needs of societies, AMD contributes to building a more dynamic, open and forward-looking African knowledge ecosystem.
