International Relief (I.R.) – Survive First
International Relief, also known by the slogan “Survive First”, is the operational humanitarian structure of the World Association for Development (WAD). It is designed to respond rapidly to humanitarian crises, natural disasters, conflicts, pandemics and emergency situations affecting vulnerable populations.
Its approach rests on three complementary dimensions: immediate assistance, early recovery and the strengthening of resilience. I.R. acts to ensure access to essential needs, including food, water, health, shelter, sanitation and protection, while preparing communities to better cope with future shocks.
Founded on the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, solidarity and professionalism, International Relief strengthens WAD’s capacity to act in critical situations. It contributes to humanitarian action that is more coordinated, more transparent and more sustainable, in conjunction with States, international institutions, humanitarian organizations and local actors.
