Global Program for Tourism Development Support
The Global Program for Tourism Development Support is the sectoral framework through which the World Association for Development (WAD) structures its action in favour of sustainable, resilient, and inclusive tourism.
The Program supports States, territorial authorities, and sector actors in the transformation of tourism models in order to strengthen their contribution to local economic development, job creation, and the valorisation of natural and cultural heritage. It promotes an approach grounded in sustainability, territorial planning, sector governance, and the integration of local communities into tourism dynamics.
The Program intervenes notably in the areas of tourism governance, the development of sustainable destinations, the management of visitor flows and impacts, heritage valorisation, the strengthening of local value chains, and the resilience of tourism systems in the face of economic, health, and climate crises.
Through this programmatic approach, WAD aims to reinforce the coherence of policies and investments in the tourism sector, to support more balanced models, and to promote territorial development trajectories capable of reconciling economic attractiveness, resource preservation, and social and environmental sustainability.
