Raising Children’s Awareness to Better Protect Women’s Health.

Through drawing and learning, children become messengers of prevention within their families and communities.

As part of its activities organized during Pink October, the World Association for Development (AMD) has been implementing, for more than five years, an innovative initiative aimed at involving children in promoting women’s health. Convinced that preventive behaviours are acquired from an early age, AMD organizes drawing competitions dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer and cervical cancer.

As part of this initiative, children are invited to express through their creations what they understand about early detection, protective measures and solidarity with women affected by these diseases. The competition thus becomes an educational space where artistic expression facilitates the understanding and assimilation of simple, accessible health messages adapted to their age.

The initiative also aims to make participants sources of information within their family and school environments. By discussing the lessons they have learned with their parents, relatives and teachers, they help circulate essential messages and encourage women to seek information, undergo screening and consult a healthcare professional promptly when necessary.

The most outstanding creations are recognized in order to acknowledge the children’s involvement and highlight their creativity. Beyond the awards, this approach enables them to understand that, at their own level, they can take part in civic action and contribute to disseminating useful information for the protection of health.

Over the years, the activities have enabled children to better identify preventive measures and communicate the messages they have received through productions that are accessible to those around them. The discussions generated around the drawings have extended learning within families and schools, giving the campaigns an educational impact that goes beyond the duration of the competition.

The implementation of this initiative mobilizes healthcare professionals, educational institutions, partner associations and volunteers. Their contribution ensures the quality of the information provided and supports the organization of activities that combine learning, creativity and collective engagement.

Through this programme, the World Association for Development affirms that prevention also relies on education and the transmission of knowledge. By involving children, AMD contributes to strengthening shared awareness for the benefit of women, while preparing a generation that is more conscious of its role in promoting the health and well-being of the community.
