Promoting workplace equality: AMD mobilizes businesses to advance women's rights.

Transforming business practices to ensure that women benefit from more equitable, inclusive and respectful professional environments.

The World Association for Development (AMD) considers equal opportunities for women and men to be an essential factor in social justice, organizational effectiveness and sustainable development. In this context, it implements a programme to promote workplace equality aimed at private-sector businesses.

Through this programme, AMD organizes awareness-raising activities, training sessions, conferences and skills development activities for women in the workplace. These initiatives aim to support their professional advancement, access to positions of responsibility and effective participation in the life of the company.

The Association also works with employers, employers' organizations, human resources departments, trade unions, women's networks and other stakeholders in the world of work to promote practices based on respect, equity and non-discrimination.

As part of this initiative, AMD organized a Private Sector Conference on the contribution of businesses to equal opportunities and gender promotion. The meeting brought together representatives of businesses, social partners, women's organizations, human resources managers and other stakeholders committed to improving women's working conditions.

The proceedings led to the development of an Ethics Code for the Promotion of Workplace Equality. This Code provides a reference framework to guide businesses in preventing discrimination, improving internal practices and promoting more equitable access for women to positions of responsibility.

The conference and awareness-raising activities strengthened dialogue among businesses, social partners and women's networks around the persistent barriers to workplace equality. The development of the Ethics Code also represents a structuring contribution by providing employers with common principles to foster more equitable, inclusive and respectful working environments.

This approach helps raise awareness of the difficulties that some women continue to face throughout their careers, including stereotypes, discrimination, challenges related to reconciling professional and family life, as well as barriers to career advancement. It therefore encourages more responsible management practices and greater recognition of women's skills.

By mobilizing stakeholders in the world of work around these issues, the World Association for Development reaffirms its commitment to professional environments where merit, skills and equity contribute to collective success and more inclusive growth.
