Sustained mobilization in support of the rights, leadership and empowerment of women and girls.

For several years, the World Association for Development (AMD) has made International Women’s Day a key occasion for mobilization in support of equality, women’s empowerment and the promotion of girls’ rights. Beyond the annual commemoration, this day provides a valuable platform for bringing together public institutions, community organizations, associations and partners around concrete initiatives for more inclusive development.

On this occasion, AMD supports women from diverse backgrounds, including public administrations, professional organizations, women’s associations, rural groups and local communities. This diversity makes it possible to adapt interventions to the specific needs of participants working in urban, rural, professional or community environments.

The activities carried out include leadership and skills development training, awareness sessions on women’s rights, experience-sharing meetings, conferences, communication campaigns and advocacy initiatives. They also seek to strengthen women’s participation in economic, social, professional and community dynamics.

AMD’s commitment, however, is not limited to activities organized around 8 March. Throughout the year, the Association develops capacity-building, support and awareness programmes aimed at strengthening women’s autonomy, confidence and ability to take action within their organizations and communities.

Particular attention is given to young girls, whose education, protection and access to opportunities are essential conditions for building fairer and more prosperous societies. Through its programmes, AMD supports their personal development, the recognition of their potential and their active participation in community life.

The initiatives implemented have contributed to improving knowledge of rights, developing leadership skills and strengthening participants’ confidence in taking on responsibilities. They have also encouraged the creation of spaces for dialogue, the sharing of good practices and greater mobilization of institutions and civil society organizations around issues related to equality and empowerment.

This approach contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality and relies on partnerships designed to broaden the reach of interventions. By strengthening women’s skills and decision-making capacity, AMD contributes to strengthening families, communities and institutions.

The World Association for Development will continue these efforts by developing new partnerships, expanding its training and awareness programmes and supporting initiatives that promote the full participation of women and girls in the development of societies.
