Actions that matter

AMD’s Commitment to Strengthening Occupational Risk Prevention and Workplace Health.

Promoting safer working environments through prevention, training and social dialogue.

Protecting workers’ health and safety is an essential factor in human development, organizational performance and economic resilience. Convinced that occupational risk prevention represents a strategic investment, the World Association for Development (AMD) supports initiatives aimed at promoting safer working environments within public and private organizations.

Through its programmes, AMD supports awareness-raising, training, social dialogue and skills development initiatives in the field of occupational health and safety. Its approach takes into account physical risks related to equipment and working conditions, organizational risks associated with management practices and workloads, as well as psychosocial risks that may have a lasting impact on workers’ well-being.

In this context, AMD took part in the celebration of the 30th African Occupational Risk Prevention Day organized in Benin. Its contribution formed part of discussions on the changing nature of risks, the transformation of working methods, the prevention of psychosocial harm and the need to strengthen occupational health governance.

This participation contributed to enriching discussions on adapting prevention policies to the realities of contemporary work. It also promoted closer cooperation between institutions, social partners and specialized stakeholders around solutions based on anticipation, continuous training, cooperation and shared responsibility.

The Association encourages the development of prevention systems based on the regular identification of hazards, risk assessment, the preparation of corrective measures, worker participation and the monitoring of actions undertaken. It also supports capacity building within competent institutions, the sharing of effective practices and the integration of innovation into occupational health and safety management.

By strengthening these approaches, AMD contributes to making prevention an instrument for protecting people, ensuring business continuity and improving organizational performance. This approach promotes professional environments that place greater emphasis on workers’ health, safety and dignity.

Through this commitment, the World Association for Development intends to continue supporting States, social security organizations, businesses, professional organizations and social partners in designing and implementing appropriate policies and programmes. It thereby reaffirms its commitment to contributing to working systems in which prevention remains a permanent priority in support of sustainable development.
